HomeMy WebLinkAbout20210721 Red Wing Youth Commission Meeting City Council Chambers July 21, 2021 Commissioners Present: Commissioners Molly Bradley, Gavin Magill, Allie Meyer, Nora Meyer, Kaylee Snider, Deyahni Cooper, and Matthew Lu Commissioners Absent: Commissioner Kayleigh Hoppman Others Present: Helen Korbel, Staff Liaison; Laurel Stinson, Council Liaison; Michelle Leise, Community Engagement Facilitator 1. Call to Order The workshop was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Staff Liaison Korbel. 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Statement of Intent Commissioner Lu read the Statement of Intent. 4. Youth Commission Purpose Statement Commissioner Snider read the Youth Commission Purpose Statement. 5. Roll Call Roll call was conducted. Commissioners Bradley, Cooper, Lu, Magill, A. Meyer, N. Meyer, and Snider were in attendance along with Council Liaison Stinson, Staff Liaison Korbel, and Community Engagement Facilitator Leise. 6. Approval of Agenda A motion was made by Commissioner Bradley, seconded by Commissioner Cooper and unanimously carried, to approve the agenda as presented. 7. Election of Executive Board A. Election of Youth Commission Chairperson for 2021-2022. Nominations were opened for the position of Chairperson. Commissioner Bradley was nominated to serve as Chairperson. There were no other nominations. A vote was conducted, and Commissioner Bradley was unanimously elected to serve as Chairperson of the Red Wing Youth Commission for 2021-2022. B. Election of Youth Commission Vice Chairperson for 2021-2022. Nominations were opened for the position of Vice Chairperson. Commissioners Cooper, Snider, N. Meyer, and Lu were nominated to serve as Vice Chairperson. There were no other nominations. Red Wing Youth Commission Meeting Minutes Page 1 of 2 July 21, 2021 A vote was conducted, and Commissioner Lu was elected to serve as Vice Chairperson of the Red Wing Youth Commission for 2021-2022. C. Election of Youth Commission Pro Tem for 2021-2022. Nominations were opened for the position of Pro Tem. Commissioners A. Meyer, Cooper, and Snider were nominated to serve as Pro Tem. A vote was conducted, and Commissioner Cooper was elected to serve as Pro Tem. 8. Motion to Approve Meeting Minutes A. April 21, 2021, Meeting Minutes. B. June 16, 2021, Workshop Minutes. A motion was made by Commissioner , seconded by Commissioner Cooper and unanimously carried, to approve the meeting and workshop minutes. 9. Motion to Approve the 2021-2022 Work Plan The draft 2021-2022 Work Plan was discussed. A Work Plan item relating to Red Wing board and commission student liaisons was clarified. Following discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Snider, seconded by Commissioner Lu and unanimously carried, to approve the 2021-2022 Youth Commission Work Plan. 10.Motion to Approve the 2021-2022 Meeting Schedule The proposed meeting and workshop schedule was discussed. The process of scheduling special meetings or workshops was reviewed. A motion was made by Commissioner N. Meyer, seconded by Commissioner Magill and unanimously carried, to approve the 2021-2022 meeting schedule. 11.Discussion and Consider Motion to Approve Funds for River City Days Staff Liaison Korbel suggested establishing a budget for items to be used during River City Days. She noted that River City Days activities will be discussed during the upcoming workshop. It was noted that River City Days will be held the first full weekend in August. A motion was made by Chair Bradley to allocate up to $500 from the Youth Commission budget toward River Cities Days items. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Magill, a vote was conducted, and the motion carried unanimously. 12.Commissioner Comments There were no Commissioner comments. 13.Adjournment Chairperson Bradley adjourned the meeting at 6:21 p.m. Red Wing Youth Commission Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 2 July 21, 2021
