POHLMAN PURPOSE: To establish a procedure to insure that officers work the correct number of hours per year in compliance with State Law and the Union Contract. To inform officers how hours that they may be short may be satisfied. 1. REQUIRED NUMBER OF HOURS A. Officers are required to work 2080 hours per year. 1. Hours short of that figure due to the scheduling format in use shall be termed "PAY BACK HOURS". B. PAY BACK HOURS shall be satisfied in the following manners: 1. Assignment to extra hours on the schedule, in addition to those regularly scheduled. 2. By officers voluntary surrender of an amount of vacation time or holiday time equal to the actual number of PAY BACK HOURS owed. If holiday time is used, it shall be the employee's responsibility to notify administration on or before November 15th of each year. a. Officers may not satisfy PAY BACK HOURS by surrender of any hours earned at time and one half rate. 3. By indication on the Overtime Authorization Form that the hours earned be applied at straight rate to PAY BACK HOURS owed. C. PAY BACK HOURS shall be due at any time during the year owed. They shall not be prorated throughout the year. D. MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DIRECT THE MANNER IN WHICH "PAY BACK HOURS" WILL BE SATISFIED. Page 1 of 1 PAYBACK HOURS -POLICY 12
